Home Visit

Our Home Visit program is designed to share information and resources, educate and support for families that received the news of the diagnosis of their child's hearing loss and will provide tools on how to be your child's best advocate as your child navigates through the world as a deaf or hard of hearing individual.

Criteria to apply for Home Visit

​

1) Reside in Alameda County

2) Child must have hearing loss (audiogram will be required)

3) Child must be between the age of 3 and 5 years old

4) Family members are expected to participate

​

What does a home visit involve?

​

  • A team of two educators, hearing and deaf, who will provide four home visits approximately about 1.5 hours each visit

  • Lesson topics include Identity and Social Emotional Development, Language and Communication, and Education and Resources

  • Specially designed curriculum includes discussion topics, handouts, activities, practice, and time for questions

  • Home visits involve the whole family, including parents, siblings, and extended family members
